Life Jacket and Educational Requirements

If you are a fellow "Sidekick," it's good to know that when you wear your life jacket, you're in good company. In most states it's not only a great idea, it's the law. If you're a parent and/or boat operator it confirms that it's a boat smart and boat safe practice. As an operator of a car, would you insist on your passengers wearing a seat belt without you wearing one yourself? Think about it. Why would you consider wearing a life jacket anything less than the same circumstance--but in a boat? Mandatory Safety Education for operators varies from state-to-state and beyond compliance with the law, contributes to being a knowledgeable and safe boat operator.
